Abhishek Banerjee's Kolkata Office Vandalized; Fire Safety Orders Issued
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's office on Camac Street in Kolkata was vandalized early Thursday, leading to the arrest of six individuals. Following the incident, the West Bengal Fire Department ordered the evacuation of the basement and two floors of the building due to fire safety deficiencies, including the non-renewal of the fire safety certificate and non-functional fire alarms. Banerjee released CCTV footage of the vandalism. Mamata Banerjee blamed the BJP for the incident and sought Supreme Court intervention, a charge the BJP denied. The fire department's order specified that the premises could not be used until fire safety measures were complied with and a renewed certificate was obtained.
