Uttar Pradesh Police Seize Illegal Cough Syrup and Drugs
Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has seized approximately 30,000 bottles of illegal codeine cough syrup worth ₹3 crore in Banda. Four individuals involved in an interstate gang were arrested in connection with this seizure. In a separate but related operation in Lucknow, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) busted a large drug network. This operation resulted in the recovery of 9.60 lakh Alprazolam tablets, 1.20 lakh Tramadol capsules, and 720 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, with a total weight of about 228 kilograms. Six individuals were arrested under the NDPS Act in the Lucknow operation. Another seizure in Sonbhadra reportedly yielded ₹80 lakh worth of heroin.
