Apple faces UK app‑tracking lawsuit and US Face‑ID patent suit
Apple has been sued in the United Kingdom's Competition Appeal Tribunal over its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system, with a claim for £2 billion (about $2.7 billion). The claim was filed by the law firm Hausfeld, which alleges that Apple's ATT rules are unfair to competitors. Apple says the ATT feature allows users to choose whether apps can track their activity across other apps and websites. In a separate case in the United States, chemical company BASF has filed a lawsuit accusing Apple’s iPhone and iPad models of infringing its patents on face‑authentication technology. BASF seeks damages and an injunction against the use of the Face ID system. Both lawsuits represent major legal challenges for Apple in two different jurisdictions.
