India Offers DNA Services for Missing Nepal Flood Victims
Following devastating flash floods in Nepal, India has offered DNA profiling services to help identify missing persons. Nepalese authorities report the death toll has risen to at least 1,259, with some reports stating 1,282, and over 4,700 individuals missing. Specific numbers of recovered bodies have been reported from various districts, including Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa, and Tanahu. In a separate development, two workers were rescued alive from a hydropower tunnel nine days after the floods, with searches continuing for other trapped individuals. The floods have also impacted merchants and traders ahead of a crucial festival season.
