Maharashtra FDA Announces Year-Round Festival Food Safety Checks
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a year-round schedule for food safety checks, particularly focusing on food served during festivals, langars, and bhandaras. This initiative, led by FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, aims to ensure food safety by conducting checks up to 21 days before major celebrations. The FDA has divided festivals into three tiers based on scale and geographical spread, outlining specific foods to be inspected, potential adulterants, sampling plans, and enforcement actions in advance. This proactive approach is intended to cover a wide range of religious and cultural events throughout the year.
