India's Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy‑rain alert for 20 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, warning of winds up to 50 km per hour. The alert covers a 24‑hour period and is expected to continue for the next 48 hours in some regions. In Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, the department forecast more than three inches of rain within 24 hours, bringing the Bhujaria tank close to overflow. The Satna‑Chitrakoot area of Madhya Pradesh was reported to be under flood warning with water accumulating in several localities.
