Air India Flight Suffers Hydraulic Failure; Pilot Tests Positive for Psychoactive Substance
An Air India flight from Delhi to Phuket experienced a significant incident involving a temporary loss of all three hydraulic systems and a disengagement of the autopilot while cruising at 36,000 feet. This led to a brief loss of altitude, triggering a stall warning. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has flagged that the pilot-in-command tested positive for a psychoactive substance in a confirmatory test. The incident resulted in 24 passengers sustaining injuries, and the aircraft's cabin sustained damage, including cracked ceilings and an uprooted commode. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is continuing its technical investigation into the altitude upset.
