India to mandate battery storage for new renewable projects from July 2027
The Central Electricity Authority has issued draft regulations that require battery storage for all new solar and wind projects. The rules will take effect from July 2027. Each project must have at least two hours of storage capacity, equal to a minimum of 10 % of the project's total capacity. The aim is to enable green power to be stored and dispatched when needed. The proposal is currently in draft form and has not yet been finalized.
