Rajasthan Local Body Elections: CM and Deputy CM Intervene to Pacify Rebel Candidates
In Rajasthan's local body elections, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari intervened to persuade rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations. Following the Chief Minister's call, a rebel candidate from Ward 53 in Jaipur withdrew, and a candidate from Ward 16 in Jaipur also withdrew after assurances from the Deputy Chief Minister. These withdrawals have altered the electoral equations in several wards, leading to direct contests between the BJP and Congress in some areas. The local body elections across Rajasthan are being held in two phases on September 9 and 11. In Jaipur's 150 wards, a total of 723 candidates are in the fray, with one ward having as many as 13 contestants.
