Ground Subsidence Disrupts Train Services in West Bengal
Train services connecting North and South Bengal have been significantly disrupted following ground subsidence near Farakka in the Maldah Division, caused by heavy rains. Eastern Railway reported that several trains, including express services, were cancelled or diverted. Repair work is underway on a war footing, with officials stating that full normalisation on the affected Up line could take one to two days until the stretch is certified safe. To mitigate the impact, 23 extra buses have been deployed to maintain connectivity for North Bengal, with more on standby.
