Sri Lanka Arrests Former President's Son in Airbus Deal Bribery Probe
Namal Rajapaksa, son of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested on Friday in connection with a corruption probe into a 2013 Airbus aircraft purchase. The anti-graft body, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), is investigating claims that Airbus channeled part of the purchase money to senior Sri Lankan officials and politicians. The probe reportedly centers on allegations that Namal Rajapaksa received $800,000 in bribes. The Rajapaksa family has denied allegations of receiving bribes.
