US, Allies Seek UN Security Council Referral for Iran's Nuclear Program
The United States and its allies are pressing the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board to report Iran to the UN Security Council over its nuclear activities. Diplomats stated that the allies have drafted a resolution to this effect, citing Iran's enrichment of uranium to 60% purity. The IAEA has described this stockpile as a 'matter of serious concern,' noting Iran is the only nation to reach this level of enrichment without developing a nuclear weapon. The move by the US and its allies also coincides with sanctions being imposed on a Turkish bank.
