Air India sacks pilot after Phuket flight incident and drug test failure
Air India terminated the employment of the pilot-in-command of a Phuket-Delhi flight after he tested positive for a psychoactive substance. The incident occurred on flight AI2379, which experienced triple hydraulic failure and an altitude upset, resulting in injuries to 24 passengers and crew. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) flagged the pilot's drug test results. Air India stated it has a zero-tolerance policy for drug use and that safety is its highest priority. The airline also initiated 100% voluntary pilot testing following the event.
