Cockroach in patient's meal leads to hospital canteen closure in Maharashtra
A hospital canteen in Kalwa, Maharashtra, was shut down after a patient found a cockroach in his meal on August 28. The patient, admitted for eye surgery, discovered the insect on his dinner plate. Following the incident, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspected the premises and flagged food safety violations, leading to the canteen's closure. Members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) protested at the Dean's office against the negligence.
