Dahi Handi Celebrations See Injuries Amidst Mumbai Festivities
Dahi Handi celebrations took place across Mumbai and other parts of India during Janmashtami. In Mumbai, 22 'govindas' (participants) were injured during the festivities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had reserved over 150 beds and kept emergency teams on standby for potential injuries. In a separate incident, female passengers broke a Dahi Handi on a local train in Badlapur-Thane. The BMC denied permission for a Dahi Handi event in Bhandup following law-and-order concerns flagged by the police.
