Assam's Ahom Capital Ensemble Nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Status
The Rangpur-Sivasagar Ensemble, representing the historic capital of the Ahom dynasty, has been officially submitted for UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the nomination, stating that the complex was the seat of the Ahom rulers who governed the Brahmaputra Valley for six centuries. This nomination follows the recent UNESCO recognition of Charaideo Moidams, another significant heritage site from the Ahom era.
