Singapore Investigates Racist Online Comments Linked to Air India Deal
Singaporean authorities are investigating racist and xenophobic online comments that emerged in relation to the Nepal-Tibet disaster and Singapore Airlines' (SIA) investment in Air India. Senior Minister K Shanmugam stated that such comments are "shameful" and "totally unacceptable," and that individuals making them should be identified and dealt with. The Ministry of Digital Development and Information will also be involved. Shanmugam clarified that the Singapore government does not interfere in the investment decisions of companies, including SIA's dealings with Air India, and that any concerns surrounding the deal are "purely commercial."
