Food Safety Authority Proposes Red Warning Labels on Packaged Foods
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is considering implementing red warning labels on packaged food products that are high in sugar, salt, and fat. FSSAI CEO Rajit Punhani stated that the proposed labels aim to inform consumers about the nutritional content. Additionally, the authority is planning to restrict the sale of high-fat food items within 50 meters of schools. These measures are intended to promote healthier eating habits among the public, particularly children.
