Pune Residents Protest Noise Pollution from Festival Loudspeakers and DJs
Hundreds of Pune residents marched on Sunday to protest the use of loudspeakers and DJs during religious festivals, citing noise pollution. The protest, organized under the banner 'Punekars Against Loudspeakers,' began at Bal Gandharva Chowk and concluded at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters. This marks the third such protest in Pune in a week. The issue has also drawn attention at the state level, with Maharashtra ministers expressing differing views on the use of DJs during festivals like Ganeshotsav. Some ministers have supported the use of sound during Hindu festivals, while others have called for DJs to be banned, citing health risks and potential action over noise violations.
