Nearly 10% of Jan Dhan accounts have zero balance, many inactive
As of January 2024, out of 59 crore Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts, 5.72 crore accounts held a zero balance. This means approximately 9.7% of the total accounts were inactive or had no funds. Further analysis indicates that every fourth account is inactive. The data was revealed through an RTI query.
