Allahabad HC Quashes NSA Detention, Slams Noida Officials
The Allahabad High Court has quashed the National Security Act (NSA) detention of a Delhi University student, Akriti Chaudhary, and ordered Noida officials to pay Rs 5 lakh in compensation. The court strongly criticized the District Magistrate (DM) of Noida, describing the actions of "despotic" officers as potentially turning Uttar Pradesh into an "Orwellian Dystopia." The student had been detained under the NSA following a protest by Noida workers. The court's decision came after reviewing the detention order and finding it to be unjustified.
