Election Commission Issues, Then Withdraws Notice to Padma Shri Awardee
The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Harekala Hajabba, a Padma Shri awardee from Karnataka, regarding a discrepancy in his name on the electoral roll. A senior official visited Hajabba's residence on Monday to collect the notice. Hajabba, who was recognized for his contributions to education by building a school in his village, expressed concern over the notice. Following the visit and Hajabba's stated commitment to retaining his name on the roll, the ECI subsequently withdrew the notice.
