Delhi building collapse kills seven; authorities face criticism
A five-story paying guest (PG) building collapsed in Delhi's Satya Niketan area, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including five students. The incident prompted criticism from the Delhi High Court, which reportedly called the situation "very, very pathetic" and criticized Delhi University and a civil body. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated the building owner was at fault. Following the tragedy, an adjoining building is slated for demolition within two days. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed seeking a hostel policy for Delhi, though the High Court declined to list it urgently.
