Asian Games venues and athletes safe amid heavy flooding in Japan

Record rainfall in Nagoya, Japan, caused flooding that briefly evacuated approximately 400 athletes and staff from temporary housing units. The athletes were moved to higher ground. Rainwater also leaked into competition venues a day before some preopening ceremony events were scheduled to begin. Officials stated that venues and athletes remained unharmed by the extensive flooding.
