UPI launches 'Tap and Pay' feature for contactless payments
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has launched a new 'Tap and Pay' feature, allowing users to make payments by tapping their phones on supported point-of-sale (POS) machines without needing to unlock their device or open the UPI app. This eliminates the need to scan QR codes or enter UPI IDs for transactions. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) also launched an AI-based platform called 'My UPI'. The 'Tap and Pay' feature was unveiled during the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai.
