Rhode Island Governor Loses Democratic Primary

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee lost the Democratic primary election to businesswoman Helena Foulkes. Foulkes, a former CVS executive, defeated the incumbent governor in a race where anger over the state's infrastructure, specifically the Washington Bridge, was a significant factor. McKee becomes the first governor in eight years to lose a primary election. Foulkes had previously lost to McKee four years ago.
