Chemicals from Sunscreen Found in Queensland Children
A study has detected alarming levels of chemicals commonly found in sunscreens in the urine samples of children in Queensland, Australia. The research, which analyzed samples from 289 children aged 5 to 17, found that 98% had detectable levels of benzophenone-3 (BP-3), a UV filter used in sunscreens. Other chemicals like octinoxate and octocrylene were also detected in significant proportions.
