Woman Reported Dead Found Alive Years Later
Shakuntala Devi, reported dead in 2014 and whose husband was jailed for her murder, has been found alive in Jharkhand, India, living under the name Kanti Devi. Her brother had identified a body recovered from a canal in Rohtas district as hers. She is now facing allegations of fraud and criminal conspiracy. In a separate incident, Sunaina Devi (55) was found alive in Uttar Pradesh after surviving for 15 days on river water and shelter in a half-submerged hut, having been swept 50km downstream by the Ganga river.
