Norway police probe Telenor over Myanmar actions
Norwegian police are investigating the telecommunications company Telenor for suspected crimes against humanity in Myanmar. The investigation, initiated by the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Økokrim), focuses on Telenor's operations in Myanmar between 2017 and 2021. This period includes the military's crackdown on the Rohingya minority. Telenor has stated it is cooperating with the investigation and denies any wrongdoing, asserting it has always acted in accordance with international human rights standards. The company previously sold its Myanmar operations in March 2022.
