Saudi Arabia Accuses Houthis of Drone Attack Near Mecca
Saudi Arabia reported that its forces shot down a drone near Mecca, Islam's holiest city, stating that attacking the holy city is a "red line." The Houthis, however, denied involvement in any attack on Mecca. Separately, the Houthis claimed to have shot down a Saudi F-15 jet fighter. International wire coverage also noted debris suggesting Saudi Arabia may have fired Chinese missiles in Yemen, and that China is emerging as a lifeline for Saudi Arabia after the US declined a request to fight Houthis threatening the Red Sea.
