EPF Wage Ceiling Raised to Rs 25,000, Supreme Court Closes Case
India's Cabinet has approved raising the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) wage ceiling to Rs 25,000 per month. Following this decision, the Supreme Court stated that a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a higher EPF wage ceiling requires no further hearing. The court's observation came after the government's announcement of the increased limit. The Financial Express noted that despite the hike, a Rs 7 lakh life cover under the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) may not increase, as it is linked to the previous wage ceiling of Rs 15,000.
