North Korean Nuclear Tests Linked to Over 1,300 Earthquakes, Study Suggests
A study published in the journal Science suggests that North Korea's underground nuclear tests may have triggered approximately 1,399 earthquakes. The seismic events occurred in an area near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site. The first earthquake in the region was recorded in 2013. The study indicates these tests may have activated ancient fault lines. One report noted these fault lines stretch towards a volcano located about 100 kilometers away.
