Congress denies supporting UPI MDR tax proposal
Congress MPs have denied claims that the party supported a proposal for a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI transactions. The denial comes after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bhartruhari Mahtab stated that Congress members in a parliamentary committee had agreed to the proposal. Congress leaders asserted that no discussion or agreement on levying MDR on UPI occurred during the committee meeting. They accused the BJP MP of making false claims and attempting to mislead the public regarding the party's stance on UPI charges.
