Former VP Hamid Ansari's remarks on Hindu right-wing spark controversy

Former Vice President Hamid Ansari's remarks identifying Hindu right-wing extremism as a significant threat to India have triggered a controversy. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) responded by stating that Ansari should move beyond his "anti-Hindu thinking" and "Nehruvian and extremist mindset." VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal urged Ansari to come out of his "Hinduphobic thinking." Some Muslim clerics also described Ansari's statement as "divisive."
