Umar Khalid Documentary Screenings Canceled in India
Two Indian educational institutions, the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru and the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H), have canceled screenings of a documentary featuring Umar Khalid. The NLSIU's decision followed a flagging by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding the film's certification status. Activists allege that Mumbai Police influenced the cancellation at NLSIU. The IIIT-H screening was reportedly planned for September 18, 2026, and was also flagged for not having CBFC certification.
