ICE Agent Shoots Venezuelan Man in Austin; Investigation Launched, Protests Erupt
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and wounded a 28-year-old Venezuelan man during a traffic stop in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon while the man was reportedly making a food delivery. The man was taken to the hospital and subsequently placed in ICE custody, according to his lawyer. Congressman Greg stated that if ICE deports the man, a key witness to the shooting would disappear. Austin officials have opened an investigation into the incident, with the Department of Homeland Security's investigative arm leading the probe. The city's mayor has called for an independent investigation. The shooting has also led to anti-ICE protests in Austin.
