Vedanta Power added to Nifty 500 as shares rise

Vedanta Power's shares rose about 5% after the company was announced for inclusion in the Nifty 500 and Nifty Smallcap 250 indices. The stock has fallen 25.9% since its demerger, but analysts said the greater visibility could attract institutional investors, while long‑term performance will depend on earnings and operational improvements. The rally was also linked to expectations of easing Middle‑East tensions and a rise in metal prices, which lifted other Vedanta Group stocks such as Vedanta Iron & Steel (up 5%) and Vedanta Oil & Gas.
