Kerala High Court invalidates oaths of 20 councillors
The Kerala High Court has invalidated the oaths of 20 Thiruvananthapuram councillors, including one Congress member, who took their oaths in the names of deities, martyrs, and political movements. The court ruled these oaths were invalid under the Kerala Municipality Act, 1994, which specifies oaths must be taken in the name of God or as a solemn affirmation. The councillors have been ordered to retake their oaths.
