TMC's Election Symbol Frozen, New Symbol Unveiled
The Election Commission has frozen the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) original party name and 'Jora Phool' (Pair of Flowers) election symbol following a split in the party. Mamata Banerjee's faction has been allotted the name 'Mata TMC' and the election symbol 'Player Playing Football'. The rival faction has been given the name 'Democratic TMC' and the symbol 'Envelope'. Mamata Banerjee has challenged this decision in court. Her faction has begun preparations to communicate the new symbol to voters.
