Tata Sons Defends N. Chandrasekaran's Third Term as Chairman
Tata Sons has defended the reappointment of N. Chandrasekaran for a third term as chairman, citing legal opinions. The company sought advice from Sudipto Sarkar before a board meeting on September 17, and subsequently received opinions from former Chief Justice of India U.U. Lalit and former Supreme Court judge B.N. Srikrishna. Former Chief Justice U.U. Lalit stated that the resolution for reappointment was "validly passed". This comes amid a challenge from the Tata Trusts.
