India's FSSAI Proposes Ban on Non-Dairy 'Analogue' Paneer
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed a nationwide ban on the sale and production of non-dairy 'analogue' paneer. This artificial paneer, made from vegetable oil and non-dairy ingredients, has been sold as genuine paneer. The FSSAI has invited suggestions on the proposal, which aims to regulate the labeling and branding of such products to prevent them from being marketed as traditional paneer.
