Black woman found hanging from tree was dead before body was staged, police say
Tasia Fortune, a Black woman whose body was found hanging from a tree behind an abandoned home in Jackson in August, had already died before her body was placed there, police said. Jackson police detective Samuel Dukes testified in court that the hanging appeared to have been staged after her death, with a drug dispute suspected as a motive.
