India Reduces Edible Oil Import Duties to Lower Prices
India has reduced import duties on edible oils to help lower domestic prices. The duty on crude palm oil and crude soybean oil was cut from 10% to 5%. Additionally, the import duty on crude sunflower oil has been reduced to zero. Following the tax cut, India has increased its purchases of palm oil as companies restock inventories.
