Ten Nominees to be Elected Unopposed in UP Rajya Sabha Polls
All ten candidates nominated for the Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh are set to be elected unopposed. The Samajwadi Party (SP) decided not to field a third candidate, allowing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure eight seats and the SP to win two. Among the BJP's eight nominees are Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and B.L. Verma, who were dropped from the party's list for the October 16 polls. The BJP's candidate selection reportedly balanced caste and regional equations.
