Kibbutz Residents Mark Anniversary of Oct. 7 Attacks, Grapple with Rebuilding
Residents of Kibbutz Kfar Aza held a memorial at 6:29 a.m. to mark the exact time Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, an assault that killed 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages. The attack initiated Israel's war in Gaza. In Kibbutz Nir Oz, survivors have returned to live in the community, which saw 47 people killed and 76 taken hostage during the October 7 attacks. Twin brothers Gali and Ziv Berman, who were among those taken hostage from their kibbutz on October 7, 2023, are still adjusting to life after being freed a year ago.
