Sri Lankan Death-Row Prisoner Injured in Saudi Jail
Twenty‑four‑year‑old Sri Lankan Hindu migrant worker Anojan Sivarasa, who is on death row in Saudi Arabia after being sentenced for a Facebook comment, was injured in a physical altercation with a fellow inmate. Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath told Parliament that prison authorities had denied personal access to the prisoner. The inmate says he was attacked with a sharp weapon, while Saudi prison officials say his injuries were caused by another inmate’s fingernails.
