Sports Ministry Reviews Asian Games Performance After Athlete Shortfalls

The Sports Ministry is set to review the performance of athletes at the Asian Games, with a particular focus on 89 athletes supported by the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) who did not secure a medal. This review comes after the Asian Games 2026 campaign where Indian Army athletes achieved a record 20 medals. Separately, coach Nieva is looking towards securing Olympic quotas for women boxers following the Asian Games success. India is also setting its sights on winning over 100 medals at the upcoming Asian Para Games, building on their historic performance in Hangzhou.
