Trump claims Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire amid continued strikes
U.S. President Donald Trump announced an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine on October 11, 2026. However, Ukraine reported ongoing Russian strikes on energy sites, including a power plant in Kharkiv, shortly after Trump's statement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv is ready to agree to an energy ceasefire, but warned that Russia must do the same. The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said the bloc would welcome such a truce "when it holds."
