CJI Surya Kant Declines INDIA Bloc Meeting, Congress Unit Demands Resignation
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant declined a request from INDIA bloc leaders to meet him, stating that their grievances should be raised through a formal petition in the Supreme Court. This occurred days after the same opposition leaders met President Droupadi Murmu. Separately, the Kerala Congress's social media unit posted a demand for CJI Surya Kant's resignation, which was later deleted following criticism. The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) condemned the call for the CJI's resignation. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has reportedly fired the staffer responsible for the post.
