India's Food Regulator Plans Stricter Rules for Online Platforms

India's food regulator, FSSAI, is preparing to implement stricter rules for quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Instamart, and Amazon Now, as well as the broader online food market valued at $80 billion. The proposed regulations aim to increase accountability for food safety violations and misleading claims. These measures include requiring online listings to display manufacturing and expiry dates, and batch numbers of food products. FSSAI stated it is "trying to tighten, make accountable" these platforms.
